Rhenus opens state-of-the-art logistics hub in Venlo, focusing on sustainability and innovation.

Rhenus Group has officially opened its high-tech logistics centre in Venlo, the Netherlands, strengthening its position in Europe and setting a new standard in sustainable and efficient logistics. The almost 72,000 m² facility combines warehousing, cross-docking and regional distribution under one roof, providing storage for up to 28,000 pallets and reducing delivery times.

Kazakhstan and Greece are moving closer together in the field of logistics and port cooperation.

The Kazakhstan transport delegation, headed by representatives of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, ports, logistics and investment companies, held a series of working meetings in Athens, focusing on the development of the Trans-Caspian route and its integration with the infrastructure of Greek ports. During the round table with the Federation of Hellenic Enterprises (SEV), projects for the modernization of Kazakhstani ports were presented and mechanisms for attracting foreign investment were proposed.

HHLA is showing strong growth despite unstable geopolitics and a weak German economy.

Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) recorded significant growth in the first quarter of 2025, despite the ongoing economic downturn in Germany, a tense geopolitical situation and uncertainty in global trade. The holding’s total revenue increased by 19.8% to €435.6 million, while operating profit (EBIT) increased by 86.6% to €32.5 million. Net profit after tax amounted to €7.9 million, compared to a loss of €1.1 million a year earlier. HHLA CEO Angela Titzrath noted that the rail container segment, a key area of ​​the strategy to strengthen the European logistics network, showed particularly strong results.

The eurozone economy grew by 0.4%, thanks to a jump in Ireland – without which growth was more modest.

According to Eurostat, the economy of the 20 eurozone countries grew by 0.4% in the first quarter of 2025, beating forecasts of only 0.2%. However, experts point out that this result is largely distorted – a significant contribution to the overall statistics was made by Ireland, where GDP grew by 3.2% due to the activity of multinational corporations operating in the country for tax reasons.

Eurogate Intermodal strengthens its position with the acquisition of Deisser Group.

Eurogate Intermodal (Egim) has acquired the German transport company Deisser Group, based in Stuttgart and specializing in container shipping in the Neckar region. The deal is effective retroactively from 1 January 2025 and aims to strengthen Egim’s position in the combined rail-road transport segment, as well as to increase the sustainability of the service in the face of market instability.
