On March 15, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., Jadranski pomorski servis (JPS) celebrated the expansion of its tugboat fleet with the addition of two new ships, “Moretto” and “Gea,” at the Karolina Riječka Pier. Dignitaries including Croatian Government Vice President and Minister of the Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure Oleg Butković attended, along with representatives from the Port of Rijeka Authority, Primorsko-Goranska County, the City of Rijeka, SCAFI Group, and JPS.

The EU’s implementation of the Import Control System (ICS2) for maritime cargo imports is progressing to its next stage, set to take effect from June onwards and impacting all shipments from third countries. Carriers must adhere to the stricter standards of ICS2 starting June 3, with a final deadline of December 4, 2024, while freight forwarders can initiate migration for self-declaration from December 4, 2024. Facilitating cooperation, a new form of declaration, Multiple Filing, simplifies collaboration between carriers and freight forwarders by allowing separate transmission of basic and additional information, merged later in the Shared Trader Interface (STI), with Gladiator anticipating a high adoption rate.

As part of the visit to the city of Aktau, the Chief Advisor to the Director General of the European Commission for International Cooperation, H. Hololei, got acquainted with the work of the seaport. Port Gdański Eksploatacja has reloaded two new Liebherr LHM 280 mobile cranes, expanding its resources after purchasing the equipment last year. With a maximum lifting capacity of 84 tonnes and a radius of 40 metres, these impressive machines provide a print port that can handle loads of up to 100 tonnes, working in tandem. The introduction of this new equipment will further expand the company’s scope of operations, increasing the volume of cargo handling, cargo projects and bulk cargo, which will ultimately contribute to inefficiencies.
