The Baltic States and the EU are launching a project for the unified management of Rail Baltica.

The Transport Ministries of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania, together with the European Commission and with the support of the Technical Assistance Instrument (TSI), have launched a project to create a unified Rail Baltica infrastructure management system. The project, implemented by EY, will develop an approach to the efficient management of railway infrastructure and provision of transport services along the entire Rail Baltica line, which will help overcome administrative barriers between countries and improve international connections.

Belgorod-Dnestrovsky port sold at auction for 90 million UAH.

The auction for the sale of the single property complex of the state enterprise Belgorod-Dnistrovsky Commercial Sea Port ended with a successful deal. The winner was Top-Offer LLC, which offered UAH 90 million, which is UAH 100 million lower than the starting price. According to the director of the port, Oksana Kiktenko, this was the 13th auction, after which the successful completion of privatization and a new history of the enterprise are expected.

Aviator has been contracted to service Icelandair flights in Copenhagen, Stockholm and Gothenburg.

Aviator Airport Alliance, part of the Avia Solutions Group, has entered into a three-year agreement with Icelandair to provide ground handling services for the airline’s flights at Copenhagen (CPH), Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) and Gothenburg (GOT) airports. Aviator has previously successfully handled Icelandair’s flights to Helsinki (HEL), which has strengthened the airline’s trust in the partner.

Kazakhstan is developing the ports of Kuryk and Aktau.

Active development of new logistics infrastructure continues in the Kuryk port in Kazakhstan. At the end of September, the first batch of cargo was received at the Sarzha terminal of the multifunctional sea terminal, and by the end of October, a ship with 4.5 thousand tons of metal is planned to be dispatched. The development project is being carried out by the Kazakhstani company SEMURG INVEST, which has completed key stages of construction, including berths and railway approaches. It is planned to fully complete all Sarzha facilities by 2030, which, according to the company’s CEO Nurzhan Marabayev, will increase the throughput capacity of the Middle Corridor by 10 million tons per year.

Maersk has entered into a long-term agreement with LONGi to supply bio-methanol to the fleet.

A.P. Moller – Maersk has signed a long-term agreement with LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. for the supply of bio-methanol, which will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the company’s fleet that uses two types of fuel, including methanol. The agreement strengthens Maersk’s strategy to secure alternative fuel sources for its vessels. There are currently seven methanol-powered vessels in operation, and with the new volumes, Maersk aims to meet more than 50% of its fleet’s methanol needs by 2027.

A2B-online launches new train service between the Netherlands and Italy.

Logistics company A2B-online has announced the launch of A2B-online Express, a new rail service that will run three times a week between Moerdijk in the Netherlands and Melzo in Italy. From April 2025, the frequency of services is planned to be increased to four times a week. This step is aimed at optimizing the supply chain and strengthening the connections between the countries.

PSA unboXed and Amperesand launch pilot project to decarbonize Singapore Port.

PSA unboXed, the venture capital arm of PSA International, has partnered with Amperesand, a specialist in grid infrastructure solutions, to jointly test technologies aimed at decarbonising ports and sustainable logistics. The partnership will see a pilot project using Amperesand’s solid-state transformer (SST) technology at the Port of Singapore, which will form part of PSA’s new electric truck charging stations.

The dredging project at the southern pier of the Adriatic Gate terminal in the Port of Rijeka has been completed.

The Port of Rijeka has completed the Adriatic Gate terminal infrastructure modernization project, which involves deepening the bottom of the southern pier. The initiative, implemented within the framework of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program, was supported by the European CEF Blending Fund, providing co-financing of 20% of the total project cost, which amounted to EUR 17.39 million, including VAT. The remaining 80% of the funding came from the earmarked funds of the Port of Rijeka Authority.

JCL Logistics launches first all-electric container route.

JCL Logistics, together with Contargo Combitrac and Tchibo, has launched the first all-electric container transport between Hof (Bavaria) and Cheb (Bohemia). Since August, two of the four new 40-tonne electric Volvo FH Electric trucks have been test driving on the approximately 50-kilometre route, which is an important part of Tchibo’s non-food supply chain. The trucks have an output of 666 hp and a range of up to 300 kilometres, enabling up to 50% of the transport on this route to be carried out with minimal environmental impact.
