The Port of Klaipeda has broken its own container handling record.

The Port of Klaipėda reached 1 million TEUs, setting a record previously only achieved at the end of the year. This achievement confirms Klaipėda’s status as one of the key container hubs in the Baltic Sea.

According to Algis Latakas, Director General of the Port Authority, reaching the million-teu mark for the fourth consecutive year demonstrates Klaipėda’s stability and reliability in the container market. He noted that this growth was made possible by effective collaboration between the port authority and stevedoring companies, as well as strategic investments in infrastructure.

This year, the record was set earlier than ever before—in early October. Improvements to the navigation channel and other modernization projects have enabled larger vessels to handle cargo and accelerated cargo handling. By the end of the year, the port plans to handle approximately 1.3 million TEUs, compared to 1,068,771 TEUs in 2024.
