The Port of Trieste is strengthening its role as a key maritime hub in Central Europe thanks to direct services from Rail Cargo Group (RCG). As part of the international TransNET network, the port is connected to Villach, Salzburg, Linz, Vienna, Munich, Burghausen, and Wolfurt by regular direct services several times a week. Additionally, the combined TransFER Vienna–Trieste and TransFER Wels–Vienna–Budapest routes provide access to the BILK terminal, while a separate corporate train connects Budapest and Trieste directly.
With the opening of the Tauern route this summer, cargo flows to the port have become more reliable and predictable. The elimination of detours has significantly improved the stability of shipments and reduced transit times. RCG now has guaranteed capacity for containers and swap bodies, making routes via Trieste even more attractive to customers.
With these solutions, RCG provides seamless connections between the Adriatic and the industrial regions of Austria, Germany, and Hungary. Trieste gains a stable position as a strategic logistics hub, and businesses gain a convenient and reliable channel for delivering goods deep into Europe.
