COFCO International has completed an important modernization stage of its grain terminal in the port of Constanta (Romania), strengthening the berth and dredging the bottom of the port basin. These works will allow direct loading of Panamax vessels without the need to call at the deep-water berths of third-party operators, which will significantly reduce turnaround times and reduce logistics costs.
The terminal, located at the mouth of the Danube, plays a strategic role in the export of agricultural products from Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Hungary and Moldova. Using the inland waterways of the Danube, it connects agricultural regions with the Black Sea, providing stable and flexible logistics to international markets.
According to the company, the modernization is part of COFCO International’s long-term strategy to strengthen the independence of operations, increase competitiveness and expand access to deep-water ports in Central Europe. The next project to increase the terminal’s throughput has already started, the launch of which is scheduled for 2026.
