Aviator updates its strategy to strengthen its position in the European ground handling market.

Scandinavian ground handling provider Aviator has announced a review of its long-term strategy aimed at strengthening core operational competencies, increasing employee engagement, and strengthening airline partnerships. The company is focusing on operational excellence, safety, digitalization, sustainability, and continuous innovation to cement its status as a preferred partner for airlines and prepare for growth in the Nordic and EU markets.

The updated strategy is underpinned by a six-point core business development strategy focused on consistent service quality, customer trust, and talent attraction in a rapidly changing market. With the European ground handling market projected to nearly double in size by 2034, Aviator expects to gain a competitive advantage through high safety standards, technological maturity, and reliability. The company already operates from 15 stations, employs over 3,500 people, and handles over 400,000 flights annually, partnering with airline groups such as SAS, Finnair, Norwegian, Lufthansa Group, Ryanair, Air France/KLM, and Wizz Air, with support from Avia Solutions Group.

The strategy places a special emphasis on a people-first model—empowering local employees, developing leadership programs and career paths, and improving recruitment processes and dialogue with trade unions. Aviator is also investing in digital tools, including mobile apps and real-time analytics dashboards, and advancing climate goals. The company plans to achieve carbon-neutral ground handling in the Nordic countries by 2030 by switching to electric vehicles, HVO100, renewable energy, and reducing its own emissions by at least 60%.
