New Italy–Sweden rail service begins.

A new direct rail freight connection between Parma in Northern Italy and Sweden has officially launched this week, marking the start of a regular weekly service linking the two markets.

The service operates on a fixed schedule, with northbound departures from Parma every Tuesday and southbound departures from Frövi (Örebro) every Friday. The first train departed this week from Parma towards Sweden, with the return service scheduled later in the week.

The connection offers a transit time of approximately three days, providing a predictable and stable rail solution between Italy and Scandinavia. With flexible capacity ranging from single pallets to full trainloads, the route is designed to serve a broad range of industries and shipment sizes.

The Swedish leg connects directly to Nurminen Logistics’ wholly owned terminal outside Örebro, ensuring full control of the logistics chain and supporting high delivery reliability. The integrated setup is intended to minimise operational risks and maintain service consistency.

Parma, located in one of Northern Italy’s key logistics hubs, serves as a gateway between the country’s industrial heartland and Central and Northern Europe. The new rail corridor strengthens northbound flows while also offering companies an opportunity to reduce Scope 3 emissions and advance their sustainability objectives through modal shift from road to rail.
