Italy’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT) has launched a public consultation on the redefinition of medium- and long-distance Intercity rail services.
The consultation is required under EU legislation and resolutions of the Transport Regulation Authority (ART). It forms part of the preparatory activities for awarding the next public service contract covering Intercity operations.
The initiative is open to economic operators potentially interested in operating the services, as well as other stakeholders. Participants may complete a dedicated questionnaire or submit written contributions by 20 March 2026.
The consultation notice has been published on the MIT transparency portal.
