MSC with new inland rail links from Sydney and Melbourne.

MSC Australia introduced new inland rail connections on 28 April 2026, linking Sydney and Melbourne port terminals with inland depots in New South Wales and Victoria.

Under the offer, containers are transferred by rail from the port to designated inland terminals, where customers can collect full import units. MSC manages the transport from port of discharge to the inland place of delivery under a single booking.

The company states that the rail option reduces reliance on road haulage from congested coastal terminals and consolidates container pick-up and de-hire at single inland locations. All container types can be returned at the same site.

The routing options are currently limited to Sydney–Minto and Melbourne–Ettamogah, Griffith and Bomen corridors. MSC positions the product as an integrated maritime and inland solution for the Australian market, combining its ocean services with rail distribution to regional hubs.
