The construction of a new grain terminal has been completed in the port of Kuryk, which has already begun operating in test mode. The terminal’s capacity is one million tons of grain per year, which will significantly increase the export of Kazakh grain to Iran and the Caucasus. This year, 1.6 million tons of various cargo have already been transported along the Middle Corridor through the port of Kuryk, which provides up to 80% of the cargo flow from China and Central Asia to Europe.
Deputy General Director of the port Bakytkerey Alibekov noted that the new terminal can simultaneously store up to 25 thousand tons of grain and process different varieties, which increases the flexibility of logistics operations. He also emphasized the importance of the Middle Corridor against the backdrop of changing geopolitical conditions and the growth of automobile transportation: since the beginning of the year, the port of Kuryk has processed more than 20 thousand cars.
Dispatcher of the port Kuandyk Kusainov reported that Azerbaijani ferries regularly call at the harbor of the Karakiya district, where all the necessary procedures are carried out jointly with representatives of government agencies. The port employs more than 130 people, 60% of whom are local residents.
