Alexandru Nicola: Deputy Commercial Director of Unicom Tranzit, Alexandru Nicola, brought a dose of self-criticism to the panel discussion of the BLACK SEA TRANSPORT CORRIDORS 2026: PORTS, RAILWAYS, SHIPPING conference, noting that service providers still prevail at conferences, rather than real cargo owners.
“The future will come when customers come to see our progress,” he said.
Unicom Tranzit is a group of companies offering a full cycle: from rail transport and Schengen operations to its own customs brokerage. Over the past year, the company has established a stable weekly shuttle service to Budapest, connecting its terminal with the Hungarian capital.
An interesting fact is that the company has workshops with VPI certification. This allows wagons to be serviced according to the highest European standards, which is extremely important for the reliability of international transport.
The company’s terminal network is strategically located in the north (Halmeu) and east (Galați), ensuring reliable connections with Ukraine and Moldova. The newest intermodal terminal has been under development for five years, becoming an important hub for the Middle Corridor.
Nicola emphasized that for the real development of the corridor, it is necessary to move from discussing services to demonstrating their effectiveness to the end consumer. Only in this way will “the progress that can come” be transformed into real contracts and volumes.
