CLdN and DFDS have extended their agreement on the Zeebrugge – Gothenburg route and will increase service capacity.

CLdN and DFDS have agreed to extend their capacity charter agreement on the Zeebrugge-Gothenburg route for another five years, simultaneously increasing the route’s cargo capacity. This agreement aims to further develop maritime connections between Scandinavia and Western Europe, more efficiently serve growing customer demand, and reduce the environmental footprint of shipping.

Under the renewed agreement, the operators will maintain four weekly departures in each direction between Belgium and Sweden. Two CLdN and DFDS cargo vessels will continue to operate on the route, while the capacity increase will be achieved through the addition of one CLdN G9-class vessel with a cargo capacity of over 8,000 lane meters. This will significantly increase shipping volumes without compromising the regularity and reliability of the service.

The Zeebrugge–Gothenburg route remains a fast and sustainable alternative to road and rail transport, helping customers bypass congested land corridors and reduce CO₂ emissions per unit of cargo transported. The route is integrated into CLdN’s extensive short-sea network, which connects 15 destinations in continental Europe, the UK, and Ireland, and offers extensive transit options, including for cargo between Scandinavia, Ireland, and the Iberian Peninsula.
