Cutting-edge truck terminal unveiled in Sermin

In a significant development, a state-of-the-art truck terminal has been officially unveiled in Sermin, marking a milestone for Slovenia’s logistics infrastructure. Recognized as the most modern truck parking facility in the country, the terminal prioritizes service and safety for truck drivers in accordance with EU standards. The inauguration ceremony, attended by notable figures including Minister of Infrastructure Alenka Bratušek, President of the Management Board of the Port of Koper Nevenka Kržan, and Kolektor CPG Director Kristjan Mugerli, showcased the commitment to advancing transportation capabilities.

Acknowledging the vital role of the logistics industry, the Ministry of Infrastructure affirmed its support by undertaking key initiatives. Among these are the construction of access roads in Sermin and Bertoki, along with a pivotal project to establish a second railway line between Koper and Divača. Aiming to alleviate road freight traffic, the Ministry also prioritizes the development of a truck parking area near Divača. This comprehensive project, boasting 203 parking spaces, offices for freight forwarders, an info point for port entry notifications, and green spaces totaling 6,000 m2, has received a substantial 4.89 million euros in funding from the European Commission under the Connecting Europe Facility programme. Set to uphold the gold standard of service and safety, the new truck terminal is anticipated to significantly reduce freight traffic into Koper, further realizing the long-term goal of decongesting the city’s main freight entrance.
