DB Cargo is expanding its terminal in Győr for automotive and industrial logistics.

Rail operator DB Cargo, together with its subsidiary DB Cargo Hungária, commissioned new infrastructure facilities at its Győr terminal, increasing its handling and cargo processing capacity. The project is aimed at supporting the region’s automotive and industrial sectors, including key partners Audi Hungaria and the Volkswagen Group. The expansion marks another strategic step in the carrier’s European network development.

The modernization included the addition of 121 meters of track and a modern service area covering approximately 1,000 square meters. A central element is a 25-meter-long repair pit for servicing locomotives and wagons, increasing rolling stock availability and operational flexibility. The Győr terminal remains a key element of DB Cargo’s presence in Hungary and, since its acquisition in 1999, has been consistently developing with a focus on integrating into European production and transport chains.

The investment strengthens rail logistics for the country’s industrial clusters, simplifying the interaction between transport, maintenance, and transhipment, ensuring faster and more reliable deliveries for manufacturers and suppliers. The expanded capacity paves the way for deeper collaboration with industrial partners, increased availability of traction rolling stock, and more efficient handling of shipments, which is particularly important for synchronized automotive production and cross-border supply chains. At the terminal’s opening, a diesel locomotive was also named “Nándor” in honor of former director Nándor Németh, who contributed to the terminal’s development.
