С октября 2024 года DFDS и Volvo Trucks реализуют совместный проект по переводу контейнерных перевозок между логистическим центром Volvo в Генте и морскими терминалами порта Антверпен на ночной график. Использование тяжёлых электрогрузовиков позволяет осуществлять экологически чистые поездки в часы пониженной нагрузки, разгружая транспортную сеть и повышая эффективность всей цепочки поставок.
Every night, DFDS electric trucks deliver containers with auto parts from Ghent to Antwerp and return empty containers. Around 150 night trips are made per month – cargo flow that previously created a load during the day. The vehicles are charged at the Ketenis parking lot via the Milence network during mandatory driver breaks. This approach increases transport turnover and allows for more efficient use of road and port infrastructure.
The project has already received support from industry organizations. According to Tia Meyvis of Alfaport Voka, night logistics are key to solving the chronic congestion on the roads around the port and an important element of the Routeplan 2030. DFDS is considering increasing night volumes despite the current challenges of limited night windows at terminals, the high cost of electric trucks and the need to reduce cargo handling times at the port.
