Gebrüder Weiss has launched weekly trucking services from China to Tbilisi.

Logistics company Gebrüder Weiss is expanding its transportation services between China and Georgia, launching a new weekly truck service to Tbilisi. The service is aimed at companies in the South Caucasus countries that regularly import Chinese products, including electronics, consumer goods, and spare parts for machinery and automobiles. The new service is primarily designed for small shipments, which are consolidated from multiple customers for more cost-effective delivery.

Freight is collected throughout China and then consolidated at Gebrüder Weiss logistics facilities in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Suzhou, and Urumqi. Truck shipments are then sent to Khorgos on the Chinese-Kazakh border. The route continues through Kazakhstan, then across the Caspian Sea by ferry, and then through Azerbaijan to the Georgian capital. Transit time from Khorgos to Tbilisi is approximately 22-25 days.

The company notes that demand for Chinese goods imported into the Caucasus continues to grow rapidly. The new service offers an additional alternative to sea, rail, and air freight: road transport offers shorter delivery times than sea, greater flexibility than rail, and lower costs than air. At the Gebrüder Weiss logistics terminal in Tbilisi, which was expanded in 2024, cargo is distributed throughout Georgia and onward to Armenia and Azerbaijan, including customs clearance. The new route also strengthens the development of the Middle Corridor – a trade route connecting China and Europe via Central Asia and the Caucasus.
