Hitachi Rail, together with MT Logistics and DB Cargo, launched the digital platform InGa-Z, created within the framework of the joint venture Protostellar with the support of the German Federal Ministry of Transport. The solution is part of the “Future of Rail Freight” program and combines a terminal operating system with mobile applications, which makes freight terminal operations faster and easier.
InGa-Z’s functionality includes cloud-based container management, automated order processing, contactless check-in, AI-based loading optimization and real-time cargo status updates.
According to Hitachi Rail, the pilot implementation of the platform at the Philippsthal terminal since July 2025 has shown significant results: check-in times have been cut in half, manual operations have been reduced by 70% and one additional freight unit has been added to each train.
