The 16th meeting of the Kazakh-Chinese Subcommittee on Railway Cooperation was held in Beijing. The parties discussed the current status and prospects of transportation between the two countries, as well as measures to enhance transit potential. Participants noted the steady growth in freight traffic and the implementation of rail infrastructure modernization projects.
Particular attention was paid to the strategic role of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Kazakhstan and China confirmed their interest in its further development, including the modernization of port infrastructure in Aktau and Kuryk. By 2029, the parties intend to increase container transit volumes along the route to 3,000 trains.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to develop a long-term program to develop transit and increase transportation volumes. The document will provide for the synchronized development of border and port infrastructure, the creation and expansion of transport and logistics hubs, the development of cooperation in railway engineering, and the further implementation of digital solutions.
