Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and Tajikistan Railways are strengthening cooperation and increasing transportation.

During a working visit to Tajikistan, Talgat Aldybergenov, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan Railways, held talks with Komil Mirzoali, Head of the Tajik Railways. The parties noted the steady growth in freight traffic: by the end of 2025, freight turnover between the countries increased by 15.1%, reaching 5.9 million tons. Export shipments from Kazakhstan increased by 7.6%, reaching 2.6 million tons, with grain, flour, petroleum products, ferrous metals, non-ferrous ores, and vegetable oil remaining the key cargoes.

During the meeting, the railway administrations agreed to continue working to improve the competitiveness of routes, develop digital document management, and jointly promote transport corridors linking Central Asia with global markets. They emphasized that this long-term cooperation is aimed at ensuring stable freight traffic between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. Following the talks, a bilateral protocol was signed outlining cooperation results for 2025 and plans for 2026.

The head of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy also held meetings with the leadership of the government and foreign ministry of Tajikistan, where they discussed strategic areas for developing the transit and logistics potential of the two countries. The parties placed particular emphasis on the development of effective transport corridors and the further growth of freight traffic volumes, which should strengthen economic cooperation and expand international transit opportunities in the region.
