According to JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, 287.8 million tons of cargo were transported across the company’s network from January to November 2025, an increase of 11.5 million tons (+4%) compared to the same period last year. Export rail shipments increased to 80.2 million tons, an increase of 4.9 million tons (+6%). Significant growth was recorded in the coal segment: shipments reached 31.2 million tons (+8%), thanks to increased shipments to the EU, and Central Asia.
Grain shipments totaled 9.7 million tons (+36%), of which 5.6 million tons went to Central Asian countries: 4 million tons to Uzbekistan (+31%), 1.3 million tons to Tajikistan (+19%), and 300,000 tons to Kyrgyzstan (a threefold increase). 800,000 tons of grain were shipped to Iran, double last year’s volume. Transit through Russia increased 3.2-fold to 2.2 million tons, including growth through Black Sea ports to 350,000 tons (+51%), Baltic ports to 161,000 tons (+96%), and Baltic ports to 724,000 tons (an eight-fold increase).
Shipping of processed grain products and feed reached 4.2 million tons (+57%), driven primarily by an increase in feed shipments to China to 2.9 million tons, almost four times more than the previous year. KTZ emphasizes that the company will continue to improve logistics and enhance transportation efficiency to ensure sustainable growth in freight traffic both on export routes and domestically.
