LTG Cargo is testing a robotic wagon inspection system.

LTG Cargo, a rail freight company within LTG Group, has launched a pilot project using a specially trained robotic dog equipped with artificial intelligence. The robot will autonomously inspect trains and use cameras to identify defects in railcar components, analyzing the condition of bogies, axleboxes, brakes, and automatic coupling devices.

According to Egle Šime, CEO of LTG Cargo, LTG Cargo strives to improve the quality and reliability of its services through the use of innovative technologies. “Automating some railcar inspection processes using a robot and artificial intelligence will allow us to optimize daily operations and ensure stable rail transportation for our customers,” she noted.

LTG Cargo specialists are currently training the system to recognize defects from images of railcar components. After completing the tests and evaluating the technology’s effectiveness, the company will decide on purchasing additional robots and their permanent deployment at key freight stations. LTG Cargo is actively developing its international operations through its branches LTG Cargo Polska and LTG Cargo Ukraine, bringing together over 1,700 logistics professionals in Lithuania and abroad.
