Rail operator ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has officially received a unified safety certificate from the European Railway Agency (ERA) for the Netherlands, Belgium, and the German border region, marking the start of the company’s own operations in Belgium. The document confirms RCG’s full compliance with all legal and operational requirements for freight transport safety and expands the group’s capabilities in Western Europe.
On October 14, RCG’s first train, operating under its own license and traction, arrived at the port of Zeebrugge, marking the symbolic start of the company’s operations in Belgium. By integrating the country into RCG’s network, customers now have access to TransFER connections and sustainable transport solutions throughout the Benelux region, increasing the flexibility and efficiency of international transportation.
To support its operations, RCG is building a local team in Belgium, including drivers fluent in French, Dutch, and German, as well as a site manager in Antwerp. Employment is carried out in accordance with Belgian law through a Dutch subsidiary. Obtaining ERA certification and entering the Belgian market strengthens RCG’s position in Western Europe and confirms the company’s commitment to developing sustainable and integrated logistics in the region.
