PSA Singapore and JTC increased transhipment at the Jurong Island terminal by more than 21%.

PSA Singapore, together with JTC Corporation and industry partners, achieved a new record at the Jurong Island Terminal (JIT), handling over 212,000 TEUs in 2025. Compared to last year, volumes increased by 21%, reflecting increased demand for efficient and sustainable logistics solutions for Singapore’s energy and chemical sectors. The terminal strengthens barge connections between Jurong Island and PSA’s mainland facilities in Tuas, Pasir Panjang, and Bran, ensuring seamless multimodal transport.

Seow Hwee, Head of Port Ecosystem Business at PSA Southeast Asia, emphasized that the record performance was the result of close collaboration with JTC, customers, and port ecosystem participants. He noted that JIT plays a key role in enhancing supply chain resilience by ensuring reliable barge connections, safe handling of specialized cargo, and more efficient logistics flows for the energy and chemical industries.

JTC noted that the development of the barge model helps reduce dependence on road transport, lower carbon emissions, and relieve pressure on land-based infrastructure. The addition of JIT’s new hazardous cargo handling and transshipment facilities has further boosted safety and efficiency, strengthening the terminal’s position as a strategic logistics hub and supporting Singapore’s long-term goals of decarbonization and sustainable growth in the industrial sector.
