Stena Line, in partnership with Associated British Ports (ABP), is developing a new freight ferry terminal at the Port of Immingham. Total investment in the project exceeds £200 million. The new East End Ro-Ro Terminal (IERRT) will expand access to the Humber Estuary, reduce crossing times, and accommodate larger vessels, which is particularly important given the growing demand for unaccompanied cargo flows between the UK and Europe.
The project has received the support of local and national authorities. Transport Secretary Simon Lightwood noted that the terminal’s construction will create approximately 700 jobs, with a further 200 to be created once the facility is operational. Stena Line and ABP emphasize that this project strengthens their long-standing partnership and enhances the resilience of trade chains for British companies.
According to Stena Line CEO Niklas Mårtensson, the new terminal will be a key link in expanding the company’s continental services and will strengthen Immingham’s role as an important hub in the carrier’s European network.
