The Kostanay freight branch of KTZ – Freight Transportation LLC continues to demonstrate steady growth in container shipment volumes. According to Kenes Dyusekeyev, Head of the Branch’s Logistics Department, during the first 11 months of 2025, 22,905 flatcars with a total weight of 1.377 million tons and 44,552 containers were loaded, forming 704 block trains.
The bulk of the freight traffic consisted of grain crops, milled products, asbestos, and animal feed. Grain, amounting to 104,900 tons, was shipped in 3,399 containers on 1,779 flatcars, forming 53 routes. Milled products, amounting to 26,700 tons, were loaded in 869 containers and transported on 443 flatcars on 14 routes. Kostanay Minerals JSC’s asbestos shipments from Zhitikara totaled 113,200 tons, carried in 4,058 containers on 2,111 flatcars, which formed 51 routes.
The largest volume of animal feed shipments consisted of 1.132 million tons shipped in 36,226 containers on 18,572 flatcars, which formed 586 routes. As Kenes Dyusekeyev noted, shippers’ interest in container shipping is growing annually due to its efficiency and logistical advantages, and the Kostanay branch of KTZ intends to further develop this option.
