The Port of Rotterdam is creating a major terminal for the construction and decommissioning of wind farms.

The Port of Rotterdam Authority is developing a new 45-hectare site with an 835-meter berth, capable of accommodating the latest offshore wind turbine installation vessels. The infrastructure will be adapted for jack-up vessels, on-site assembly operations, and will also include its own RO-RO facility, allowing for servicing of all types of transport. The terminal is designed not only for the installation of offshore wind farms but also for their subsequent dismantling.

The project aims to provide the offshore wind industry with the necessary capacity, which is currently limiting its development. New wind farms will be rapidly built in the North Sea in the coming years, and the market demands high-quality infrastructure with the appropriate specifications.

Completion of the terminal will enable the Port of Rotterdam to offer large-scale production and logistics capabilities, supporting the transition from fossil fuels to sustainable energy sources and stimulating further growth in the sector.
