On September 1, an introductory online meeting of representatives of the transport departments of Ukraine, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova and the European Commission took place. The central topic was the development of the trans-European transport corridor TEN-T “Baltic Sea – Black Sea – Aegean Sea” with an emphasis on the section that should connect the Greek port of Alexandroupolis with the Ukrainian Odessa via Varna and Constanta.
The Ministry of Development noted that the expansion of logistics routes is an important factor in the economic sustainability and integration of Ukraine into the European space. Particular attention was also paid to the development of the infrastructure of the Danube region and its inclusion in the TEN-T network, which will increase the capacity of ports, create a reliable alternative to sea and land routes and further integrate the transport systems of Ukraine and Moldova into the European network.
Representatives of the European Commission emphasized the strategic importance of the region and their readiness to consider options for financing critical infrastructure. The participants agreed to continue coordinating efforts to implement the corridor, including the Alexandroupolis-Odessa route, which should strengthen Ukraine’s integration into the European transport space and ensure the sustainability of international logistics for both civilian and defense purposes.
