Swissport invests €1.5 billion in greening and expands operations in Italy.

Swissport will invest €1.5 billion over five years in the sustainable development of its global operations, primarily in the electrification of its ground vehicle fleet and the transition to renewable energy sources. Today, 25% of the company’s equipment runs on electricity, and at Swiss airports this figure will reach 55% by the end of 2025. Solar panels have also been installed at key cargo terminals in Frankfurt, Nairobi and Spain.

In parallel, Swissport has begun handling cargo at Milan Malpensa Airport. The new 4,000 m² terminal handles import shipments and will soon begin handling general cargo. As Massimo Roccacecca, Director of Cargo Operations at Swissport Italia, noted, the expansion in Malpensa has always been a strategic priority for the company in Italy.

Swissport plans to further develop ground handling, business lounges and services for private aviation in Italy. This step strengthens the operator’s position as one of the key players in the European aviation logistics and services market.
