China’s largest indigenously designed LNG tanker, Celsius Georgetown, built for the Danish company Celsius Group, departed Nantong for Singapore following its official delivery at a shipyard in Jiangsu Province. With a capacity of 180,000 cubic meters, the LNG carrier is one of the largest vessels of its type built in the country.
The tanker is 298.8 meters long and 48 meters wide. Equipped with a dual-fuel, low-speed propulsion system, the vessel is designed to transport liquefied natural gas at temperatures as low as minus 163 degrees Celsius, ensuring safe and efficient transportation on long-haul routes.
Celsius Group has ordered six vessels of this type, with an additional five LNG carriers at various stages of construction. The second tanker is expected to be delivered to the customer in three months.
