Port of Antwerp-Bruges International and the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at fostering cooperation within the port sector and strengthening logistics links between Ukraine and Europe. The agreement provides for the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and practical support, as well as joint efforts to enhance the resilience of maritime infrastructure amidst the ongoing war.

The partnership will focus primarily on developing maritime transport corridors, improving port management efficiency, and boosting competitiveness, safety, and environmental standards. The parties also plan to collaborate on the modernization and restoration of port infrastructure, including attracting investment and implementing public-private partnership projects. A specific area of cooperation will involve sharing expertise on maintaining port operations during crises.

USPA currently encompasses 14 Ukrainian seaports; however, only seven remain under its direct management, while the others are located in occupied territories. Under the agreement, the Belgian side will also organize training programs, seminars, and study visits for Ukrainian port authority staff. The organizations note that the new memorandum is intended not only to strengthen economic ties but also to lay the groundwork for a more resilient and modern port sector in Ukraine.
