The Delta-Pilot branch of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority has commenced maintenance dredging operations in the waters of the Izmail seaport. The project’s primary objective is to restore design depths in the berth operational zones – a measure essential for safe vessel entry, efficient cargo handling, and the ability to accommodate vessels and shipments at maximum draft.

The port of Izmail remains a key component of Ukraine’s Danube port cluster; maintaining adequate water depths is considered critical for stable navigation and the uninterrupted operation of infrastructure. The project utilizes the Delta-Pilot fleet – including the tug Aydar, the hopper barge KSh-2, and the survey vessel Ivan Koval – along with a grab-bucket floating crane engaged under a time-charter agreement.

Throughout the dredging period, specialists will continuously monitor water depths and the condition of the port waters. Completion of the work is scheduled for the next two months, after which the port will be able to ensure more stable conditions for cargo operations and navigation in the region.
