DHL Global Forwarding opens new aviation hub in Frankfurt.

DHL Global Forwarding has officially opened its new air terminal in Frankfurt am Main, one of the company’s largest logistics facilities in Europe. The new hub, with an area of ​​24,500 m², is located on a 55,000 m² site in CargoCity Süd and was built by developer Fraport AG. The terminal is equipped with 54 cross-docking gates and is capable of handling up to 300,000 tons of cargo per year. This will allow DHL to consolidate all of its current capacities in Frankfurt in one location, reduce the number of trucks on site and increase the efficiency of its logistics operations.

KTZ Express presented new logistics solutions to support Kazakhstani exports.

At the Kazakhstan Exporters Forum, KTZ Express presented a number of logistics initiatives aimed at strengthening the positions of domestic manufacturers abroad. Imabari Shipbuilding has led an ambitious revival of Japanese shipbuilding.

Yukito Higakki, president of Japan’s largest shipbuilder Imabari Shipbuilding and recently appointed head of the Japan Shipbuilding Industry Association (JSIA), has announced the goal of returning the country to at least 20% of the global shipbuilding market by 2030 — double the current level. This is a step toward restoring the position that Japan occupied in the 1990s, when it controlled almost half of the world’s orders.

Major shareholder HHLA proposes to cut dividends for investment purposes.

Port of Hamburg Beteiligungsgesellschaft SE, which holds around 90.4% of the shares in Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), has proposed a change to the dividend amount on the agenda of the annual general meeting of shareholders on 3 July 2025. Instead of the previously proposed €0.16 per Class A share, the majority shareholder is proposing to pay €0.10 per share.

The Port of Riga is reducing cargo turnover, but increasing container turnover and passenger traffic.

According to the results of January–May 2025, the cargo turnover of the Freeport of Riga decreased by 7.2% compared to the same period last year and amounted to more than 6.9 million tons. The main decline was shown by bulk cargo, the volume of which decreased by 16.6%, to 3.1 million tons, including over 1 million tons of agricultural products – 20.4% less than a year earlier.
