DHL Express invests €40 million in new hangar in Spain.

DHL Express Spain has announced plans to invest more than €40 million in the construction of a new European aircraft maintenance hangar in Vitoria-Gasteiz, strengthening the role of Spain in the company’s global strategy. The new facility is expected to be operational by mid-2027 and will be the company’s second-largest maintenance hub in Europe after Leipzig, Germany.

Maersk Air Cargo has taken delivery of the first Boeing 777F for flights between China and Europe.

Maersk Air Cargo (MAC) has taken delivery of the first of two new Boeing 777Fs, becoming the first Danish airline to own such an aircraft. The handover ceremony took place at Boeing headquarters in Seattle, USA. Maersk ordered two 777Fs in November 2021 as part of its fleet modernization, with the second aircraft to be delivered in the third quarter.

HHLA Sky presents cutting-edge drone solutions at the new dronePORT in Hamburg.

HHLA Sky, a subsidiary of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), showcased its advanced drone operation solutions at the grand opening of dronePORT Hamburg. This new facility, inaugurated by the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA), Hamburg Police, and Hamburg Aviation, marks Europe’s first ground infrastructure dedicated to unmanned aviation and mobile sensor technology. HHLA Sky’s offerings include drones for inspecting the Port of Hamburg and shipping lanes, supported by their Integrated Control Center, a sophisticated software enabling Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) flights for infrastructure inspections.

Baltic Ground Services extends its contract with Freebird Airlines.

Baltic Ground Services (BGS), a leading provider of aviation services, has extended its contract with Freebird Airlines, a leisure airline registered in Turkey and Malta. Under the renewed agreement, BGS will continue supplying aviation fuel to Freebird at airports in Tallinn (Estonia), Kaunas (Lithuania), and Ostrava (Czech Republic) for another year, effective from April 1, 2024.
