The Port of Gdansk has launched a major infrastructure project – the construction of an Integrated Border Control Point (ZPKG) next to the Baltic Hub terminal. The new centre, covering an area of ​​over 2 hectares, will unite the work of all control services in one place, which will simplify and speed up inspections of goods arriving in the European Union and increase the efficiency of the port against the backdrop of growing cargo turnover.

The German company HHLA, together with the Ukrainian investment company Fortior Capital, is creating a new intermodal terminal HHLA Eurobridge Batiovo in the Zakarpattia region, near the border with the EU. HHLA will receive a controlling stake and will develop the facility through its subsidiary railway company METRANS. The project is currently awaiting approval from the Ukrainian Antimonopoly Committee.

Nippon Express (Belgium) NV/SA, part of the NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS group, opened a new logistics hub on May 16 at Brucargo Central in the cargo area of ​​Brussels Airport. NX Belgium is the first company to start operations at the renovated site, located in a key region of Europe for the pharmaceutical industry.

A thematic session dedicated to the development of the Trans-Caspian Transport Route (TITR) was held in Munich as part of the European Union’s Global Gateway initiative. The focus was on turning strategic plans to expand logistics connectivity with Central Asia into real infrastructure and commercial projects.

In Rüdenhausen, Bavaria, Garbe Industrial Real Estate and BentallGreenOak are building a modern logistics facility covering 16,000 m². Just four months after the start of construction, the topping out ceremony took place on May 23, symbolizing an important milestone in the implementation of the €25 million project.

According to the report of the International Union of Combined Rail and Road Transport (UIRR), in 2024, the volume of multimodal freight transport in Europe increased by 5.19% compared to the previous year, while freight turnover in tonne-kilometers grew by 8.41%. Domestic transport developed most dynamically, especially in France and Poland, where an increase of 10.6% was recorded.

Nippon Express (China) Co., Ltd., a member of NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS, has received GDP (Good Distribution Practice) certification for the transportation of pharmaceutical products by air and sea through its facilities in Shanghai and Lianyungang. The certification came into effect on February 21, 2025, and confirms that the operations comply with high international safety and quality standards.

On May 19, the UK and the European Union signed a new agreement aimed at reducing trade barriers, improving data exchange and expanding cooperation on defence and migration. At the same time, London will remain outside the single market, customs union and free movement area of ​​the EU.
