Imabari Shipbuilding has led an ambitious revival of Japanese shipbuilding.

Yukito Higakki, president of Japan’s largest shipbuilder Imabari Shipbuilding and recently appointed head of the Japan Shipbuilding Industry Association (JSIA), has announced the goal of returning the country to at least 20% of the global shipbuilding market by 2030 — double the current level. This is a step toward restoring the position that Japan occupied in the 1990s, when it controlled almost half of the world’s orders.

Major shareholder HHLA proposes to cut dividends for investment purposes.

Port of Hamburg Beteiligungsgesellschaft SE, which holds around 90.4% of the shares in Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), has proposed a change to the dividend amount on the agenda of the annual general meeting of shareholders on 3 July 2025. Instead of the previously proposed €0.16 per Class A share, the majority shareholder is proposing to pay €0.10 per share.

The growth of railway tariffs in Ukraine threatens not only the development of intermodal chains and terminals, but also the strategic goal of the state – containerization of cargo transportation. This was stated by the CEO of Levada Cargo Volodymyr Demenko, emphasizing that such changes could become a critical brake on the market and return shippers to road transport.

The Port of Riga is reducing cargo turnover, but increasing container turnover and passenger traffic.

According to the results of January–May 2025, the cargo turnover of the Freeport of Riga decreased by 7.2% compared to the same period last year and amounted to more than 6.9 million tons. The main decline was shown by bulk cargo, the volume of which decreased by 16.6%, to 3.1 million tons, including over 1 million tons of agricultural products – 20.4% less than a year earlier.

BGS will serve AEGEAN flights at Vilnius Airport.

Baltic Ground Services (BGS), a part of Avia Solutions Group and a specialist in ground handling and aviation fuel supply, has entered into a strategic partnership with Greece’s largest air carrier, AEGEAN Airlines. Since June 2025, BGS will provide full ground handling services to the Greek airline at Vilnius International Airport (VNO), where AEGEAN’s first arrival took place on June 3 and its first departure on June 4.

Bahnoperator group establishes Czech arm to broaden Silk Road, Middle Corridor and CIS operations for Czech market.

The company Bahnoperator Czech s.r.o. is led by Martin Gráca(CEO), a logistics specialist with over 20 years in corporate and private-sector freight services.Bahnoperator group (via Bahnoperator Europe GmbH) has registered a new Czech subsidiary—Bahnoperator Czech s.r.o.- in Prague as of March 2025. The move aims to support the company’s expanding intermodal rail network between Central Europe, China and middle east counties in direct connection to control the whole transport chain by own resources or long-term partners in behind.
