PSA Antwerp and Lineas have launched a regular train service between Zeebrugge and Antwerp.

PSA Antwerp and Lineas have announced the launch of a new rail service directly connecting the PSA terminal in the port of Zeebrugge with the Noordzee Terminal in Antwerp. The first container train departed on 27 May 2025, and from 2 June the line began operating regularly, three times a week in both directions. This re-establishment of an important rail route was a highlight at the Transport Logistics trade fair in Munich.

TCDD receives first Turkish-designed E5000 locomotives.

Turkish railway operator TCDD has received the first five E5000 electric locomotives, which were developed and manufactured entirely using local technologies. The handover ceremony took place in Eskisehir, where the locomotives are assembled by Türasaş with the participation of the TÜBİTAK RUTE Research and Development Institute.

KTZ completes construction of bypass railway around Almaty.

JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy plans to complete the construction of a new 75 km railway line by the end of 2025, which will bypass the congested Almaty railway junction. 96% of the excavation work has already been completed, over 30 km of track and sleeper grid have been laid, 17 of 19 bridges have been installed, and 49 of 55 utility pipes have been installed. Electrical equipment and blocking systems are being installed at the same time.

HHLA is creating a new logistics hub in Transcarpathia – the Eurobridge Batiovo terminal.

The German company HHLA, together with the Ukrainian investment company Fortior Capital, is creating a new intermodal terminal HHLA Eurobridge Batiovo in the Zakarpattia region, near the border with the EU. HHLA will receive a controlling stake and will develop the facility through its subsidiary railway company METRANS. The project is currently awaiting approval from the Ukrainian Antimonopoly Committee.

COSCO Shipping Europe launches new feeder service between Ukraine and Turkey.

COSCO Shipping Europe has announced the launch of the Black Sea Feeder Service (BFS), a regular sea route that will connect the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk with the Turkish port of Kumport near Istanbul. The new service will provide a stable logistics connection for Ukraine to the global maritime transportation network, including destinations to the Far East.

The EU and Central Asia are discussing the implementation of projects on the Trans-Caspian route within the framework of the Global Gateway.

A thematic session dedicated to the development of the Trans-Caspian Transport Route (TITR) was held in Munich as part of the European Union’s Global Gateway initiative. The focus was on turning strategic plans to expand logistics connectivity with Central Asia into real infrastructure and commercial projects.
