Batumi Sea Port and Aktau Sea North Terminal LLP signed a strategic cooperation agreement to actively develop transit traffic between Georgia and Kazakhstan, including the effective use of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).
German company Helrom, which specializes in the transportation of semi-trailers by rail, has filed for preliminary insolvency, launching a financial restructuring process. This was announced by Sales Director Bruno Weissmann on his LinkedIn page.
KTZ Express successfully organized the multimodal transportation of the first container train from China’s Shanxi Province to Azerbaijan along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR). The train of 50 containers with photovoltaic modules weighing more than 1,150 tons departed from the Zhongding logistics center in Jinzhong and transited through Kazakhstan.

In the first half of 2025, the port of Klaipeda handled almost 19 million tons of cargo, which is 16% more than in the same period last year. The growth was driven by container traffic (6.5 million tons, +38%), as well as increased volumes in the LNG (+47%), mineral and construction materials (+48%), ro-ro (+6%) and oil products (+4%) segments. The container volume reached almost 700 thousand TEU, and the port is expected to exceed the 1 million TEU mark by the end of the year.

A meeting on the development of the maritime industry was held under the chairmanship of Zhanibek Tayzhanov, head of the Committee for Railway and Water Transport of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The government of Montenegro has approved the sale of the fleet of the state shipping company Crnogorska Plovidba due to its inability to service a loan previously received from the Export-Import Bank of China for the construction of two Handysize bulk carriers. The company’s debt to the state exceeds 37 million euros.
From January to June 2025, 550.7 million tons of cargo were transported in Kazakhstan, which is 10.9% or 54.1 million tons more than in the same period last year. This was reported by the Minister of Transport Nurlan Sauranbayev.
The project involves the addition of a second module, intended to more than double the terminal’s transshipment capacity by 2028. The investment is jointly funded by DB, the German federal government, and the European Union, amounting to approximately EUR 148 million (converted from the originally stated 148 million EUR investment).
