Armenia plans to create a state-owned company to develop transport infrastructure.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced plans to create a national company that will implement large-scale infrastructure projects, including in the transport and energy sectors. The initiative is being discussed as part of preparations for the signing of a peace agreement with Azerbaijan and is aimed at attracting investment in the Crossroads of Peace project.

KTZ Express sent the first container train from Shanxi to Azerbaijan via TITR.

KTZ Express successfully organized the multimodal transportation of the first container train from China’s Shanxi Province to Azerbaijan along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR). The train of 50 containers with photovoltaic modules weighing more than 1,150 tons departed from the Zhongding logistics center in Jinzhong and transited through Kazakhstan.

Container train from Xi’an to Baku covered the Trans-Caspian route in 11 days

On the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), a container train successfully completed its route, connecting the Chinese city of Xi’an with the Azerbaijani city of Baku. This transport marathon, transited through Kazakhstan, took only 11 days. The first train in 2024 included 55 forty-foot containers, carrying a variety of goods – from consumer goods to electric vehicles, construction materials and pipes of various sizes.

Baku Port welcomes Chinese delegation to explore trade and transit opportunities

The main focus of the meeting was placed on emphasizing the importance of the Baku port as a key transit hub connecting Asia and Europe. Discussions revolved around current and future projects of the port aimed at transforming the Middle Corridor into a sustainable digital green corridor. The delegation also expressed interest in establishing mutually beneficial collaboration with Chinese companies in expanding logistics and port operations, taking into account the strategic geographical position of Azerbaijan and the infrastructure capabilities of the port.

Kazakhstan’s ambitious goal: fivefold increase in cargo transit from China to Europe by 2029

ASTANA – Kazakhstan is set to significantly boost cargo transit from China to Europe through its territory, aiming for a five-fold increase by 2029, as announced by Deputy Minister of Transport, Satzhan Ablaliyev, during a government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov on December 5. In the initial nine months of this year, road freight transportation reached 5.5 million tons, marking a 22% increase compared to the same period last year, with domestic operators contributing 42% to this share. Transit transportation saw a notable surge of 44%, reaching 3.6 million tons, with China accounting for a substantial portion, doubling cargo transportation to 1.5 million tons.

Resumption of goods transport: China to Azerbaijan via block trains

In a significant milestone, the inaugural shipment from China to Azerbaijan via a container block train has been successfully completed. The train, originating from China, has reached its destination at the Baku port, marking the first of such journeys. A diverse cargo comprising 110 TEUs, encompassing electric vehicles, construction materials, and industrial products, has been transported from China to Azerbaijan.
