As of December 10, 2024, the seaports of Ukraine handled 91.1 million tons of cargo, according to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA). In January-November, the actual volume of cargo handling reached 89.9 million tons, which is 70% higher than the same period in 2023, when 52.8 million tons were handled.
From January 2025, traffic on the Luegg Bridge on the A13 motorway in South Tyrol will be restricted due to extensive repairs that will last until 2027. Dublin-based Avia Solutions Group (ASG), the world’s largest ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) services provider, has announced the opening of its first Global Services Centre in Manila, Philippines. Scheduled to open in January 2025, the centre will support the technical and flight operations of the group’s airlines, as well as MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) activities. In addition, the centre will house corporate functions including IT, finance, payroll and administration.

The Czech railway infrastructure operator Správa železnic (SŽ) has completed construction and opened a new 316-metre-long bridge near the Orlická Dam on the Vltava River, near Červená nad Vltavou. The new bridge, called the Schwarzenberg Bridge, is part of the single-track Tabor-Písek line, replacing the old steel bridge from 1889, which, due to its poor condition, limited the movement of passenger trains and did not allow freight trains to pass through.
Over 236 million tons of cargo were transported on the railway network of Kazakhstan in January-November 2024. Domestic transportation amounted to 154 million tons, an increase of 1% compared to the previous year, and 82 million tons were exported.
A consortium led by CMA CGM (67%) and the Banque des Territoires (23%) and the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Lyon and Marseille (4% each) has been awarded a 30-year subconcession to manage the Edouard Herriot container terminal at the Port of Lyon. Trucks at the container terminals of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) in Hamburg are now handled entirely digitally thanks to the implementation of the passify app. Following the successful launch at the Altenwerder Terminal (CTA), the transition to this innovative system has now been completed at all HHLA terminals in Hamburg. The app replaces the physical driver card, enabling safer and more efficient process management. Since the beginning of the year, more than 200,000 arrivals have already been processed using passify.
State-owned enterprise AS Operail has sold its entire business, including its subsidiary Operail Repairs OÜ, to the Estonian company AS Tiigi Keskus for 19 million euros. The privatization was prompted by a sharp decline in freight traffic on the railway due to sanctions, as well as changes in the country’s strategy. Infrastructure Minister Vladimir Svet emphasized that freight traffic is not a strategically important task for the state, and the transfer of the business to private investors will allow it to focus on other priorities.
International logistics provider Rhenus has joined Air France KLM Martinair Cargo’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) program, taking a step towards reducing its carbon footprint in aviation. The initiative aims to support sustainable solutions in air transport and offers Rhenus customers the opportunity to reduce their emissions.
