Hungarian consortium Ganz-Mavag Europe has made a bid of €619m to acquire Talgo entirely, a move welcomed by the latter. However, the Spanish government is hesitant about foreign ownership, contemplating alternatives such as a potential acquisition by CAF.
At a meeting in Almaty, which brought together heads of branches of road departments and shippers, a program to improve the efficiency of cargo transportation was discussed. Construction of the innovative multimodal transport terminal “Fishka Nov” has begun in the Chernivtsi region. The main functionality of the terminal is to carry out transshipments with the possibility of simultaneous servicing of freight cars from different tracks: Ukrainian (1520 mm) and European (1435 mm). Additionally, the terminal allows you to efficiently move cargo between vehicles and wagons.
At the last meeting of the Kazakh-Azerbaijani Intergovernmental Commission, the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Marat Karabaev, presented a plan for investment projects. In a groundbreaking initiative, METRANS addresses the overlooked issue of gas composition within shipping containers. Typically, containers are only utilized at 65%, leaving 35% filled with air, including various gases, some potentially harmful. Concerned about the health and safety of logistics workers, METRANS initiated a pilot project in 2019 at its Dunajská Streda terminal to measure gas concentrations within containers without the need to open them.
