The Swiss logistics company Galliker has officially commissioned its new facility, Logistics Center 2, located in the town of Sant’Antonino in the canton of Ticino. The facility’s grand opening took place on May 13, 2026, attended by representatives of regional authorities, including Fabio Regazzi, a member of the Cantonal Council of Ticino. This new complex represents the company’s response to the growing demand for modern logistics space in southern Switzerland, enabling it to expand its warehousing capacity by more than 13,000 square meters.
The new center is designed as a multi-functional facility capable of handling various cargo categories and temperature regimes: Ambient, Fresh, and Frigo. The complex features two floors of warehouse space, 24 loading docks, freight and pallet elevators, as well as office and staff amenity areas. Galliker placed particular emphasis on the facility’s energy efficiency: the center is equipped with a 1.17 MW solar power plant, and its heating and cooling systems utilize groundwater – a key element of the company’s “Green Logistics by Galliker” strategy.
Together with the already operational Logistics Center 1, the Sant’Antonino site forms an integrated “Net Zero” ecosystem. This system comprises a medium-voltage power grid, solar power plants generating over 2 GWh annually, a battery energy storage system, and charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. Looking ahead, the facility will feature 53 available charging stations, enabling it to support the company’s vehicle fleet – which is already more than 50% electrified. Galliker is also actively expanding the use of electric trucks on routes between Switzerland and Italy, while simultaneously broadening its multimodal transport operations via rail connections along the Gotthard Corridor, including the transport of hazardous materials.
