Hanseatic Global Terminals and Imetame Group have finalized the creation of a joint venture to build a new container terminal in Aracruz.

Hanseatic Global Terminals (HGT) and Imetame Group have officially finalized the deal to form a joint venture, Hanseatic Global Terminals Aracruz S.A., having secured all necessary regulatory approvals for the acquisition of a 50% stake in the project. This agreement builds upon arrangements reached in December 2025 and solidifies the partnership between the parties to develop a new container terminal at the Brazilian port of Aracruz, in the state of Espírito Santo.

The project entails the construction of a modern deep-water terminal designed to accommodate next-generation vessels. The facility will feature a 750-meter quay, a depth of 17 meters, and high-tech container handling equipment, with an annual capacity of approximately 1.2 million TEUs. Operations are scheduled to launch in mid-2028, positioning the terminal as a key hub for transit and access to markets along Brazil’s east coast.

Hanseatic Global Terminals notes that Latin America is a strategically important region for its network’s growth, and the new venture will enhance connectivity and expand access to global trade routes. Imetame Group emphasizes that the project will strengthen Brazil’s role in global trade and create new opportunities for the region. The companies also reaffirmed plans to expand HGT’s portfolio to more than 30 terminals by 2030; the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
