KTZ Express, a freight transport operator and subsidiary of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, has summarized the results of 2025, recording significant growth along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Export shipments along the TITR increased by 71%, while transit shipments increased by 15%. The operator’s share of total container transit through Kazakhstan was 36%, accounting for 100% of container shipments on the Middle Corridor and China-Iran routes, and 68% on the China-Central Asian route. The average delivery time along the TITR has been reduced by 2-3 days compared to 2024: cargo transit from Xi’an dry port to Baku takes 10-12 days, to Poti 15-18 days, to Istanbul 20-22 days, and to Budapest 22-24 days.
In 2025, KTZ Express launched new multimodal services. In partnership with China Railway Container Transport, container shipments from China to Afghanistan were organized. The operator also provides a full logistics cycle for cargo shipments from Kazakhstan to the United States, established shipments from China to Poland and Azerbaijan, and from Turkey to Central Asian countries. During the year, the company signed approximately 20 agreements with partners from China, France, Austria, Turkey, Hungary, and Pakistan aimed at developing multimodal routes, expanding terminal infrastructure, and implementing digital solutions.
Key investment projects include the completion of the first phase of the container terminal at the port of Aktau with a capacity of 140,000 TEU per year and the expansion of the Khorgos dry port by adding 10 additional tracks, increasing its capacity to 800,000 TEU. As part of its business diversification, KTZ Air Cargo was registered, and GulfLink was created jointly with AD Ports Group. In parallel, projects to digitalize the transportation process were implemented both within Kazakhstan and in cooperation with the railways of China, Azerbaijan, and Georgia.
