Maersk reports impact of conflicts and weather conditions on port operations and logistics.

Maersk continues to closely monitor the military conflict in the Middle East and is taking measures to ensure the safety of its employees, infrastructure, and customer cargo. Meanwhile, adverse weather conditions continue to impact operations at a number of European ports. In recent weeks, hubs in Northern Europe and the Mediterranean have experienced disruptions to schedules and terminal operations, leading to container accumulation and increased utilisation of warehouses.

Maersk notes that despite the gradual improvement of weather conditions in the western Mediterranean, terminals continue to operate at high warehousing density. This is due to delays in recent weeks, which have increased the time imported containers remain at terminals. The company is asking customers to collect containers promptly after unloading to reduce the burden on terminal infrastructure. A similar situation is observed at northern European ports, where increased cargo storage times are also being reported.

Some changes have also affected other logistics segments. Rail service between Spain and France, previously disrupted by storms, has resumed – lines between Barcelona and Lyon, as well as Barcelona and Toulouse, are operating again, and the Toulouse depot is accepting new bookings. Meanwhile, due to the situation in the Middle East, several countries, including the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Iraq, have temporarily closed their airspace, leading to flight cancellations and diversions. Maersk warns that this may increase delivery times, especially for cargo using combined Sea-Air routes.
