Rail tariff reform was discussed in Astana.

On March 16, 2026, a meeting of the Railway Transport Subcommittee of the Logistics and Transportation Committee of the Presidium of the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held in Astana. Representatives of government agencies, businesses, and industry associations participated. The meeting, held in a mixed format, focused on key issues related to the development of Kazakhstan’s railway industry.

Participants focused on discussing the draft new tariff methodology for mainline railway services, as well as the application of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy to increase tariffs. The discussion explored approaches to improving tariff policy, taking into account the need to balance the interests of carriers, shippers, and the state. The importance of tariff transparency and ensuring sustainable development of transport infrastructure was emphasized.

Following the meeting, proposals and recommendations were formulated, which will be submitted for further consideration in the development of regulatory decisions. Participants also noted the importance of ongoing dialogue between government and business for the effective development of the transport and logistics system. The Union of Transport Workers of Kazakhstan, “Kazlogistics,” serves as the official secretary of the Subcommittee.
