The Lithuanian Army and LTG Group are strengthening cooperation in the field of military mobility and logistics.

Commander of the Lithuanian Armed Forces Raimundas Vaikšnoras and LTG Group CEO Egidijus Lazauskas signed a cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing the country’s preparedness for crises and potential threats. The document opens a new phase of collaboration between the army and the rail group, providing for more efficient use of LTG’s infrastructure and technical capabilities for military mobility, logistics, and the reception of allied forces. The parties plan to update security plans, conduct joint exercises and training, expand defense information exchange, and develop partnerships in military equipment repair, fuel supply, spare parts storage, and cybersecurity. Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Roderikas Žiobakas noted that the agreement will be an important step toward strengthening the country’s resilience and defense capability.

LTG Group has been actively involved in military mobility for several years. Its LTG Cargo division transports NATO allied equipment and personnel to Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, as well as back to their home bases. On July 17, 2025, the first railway transport of Lithuanian military equipment and personnel took place as part of a tactical exercise, after which cooperation with the army significantly intensified. Training sessions on railway logistics were organized, including practice in securing cargo and loading equipment onto flatcars, and four separate transports of army units were completed. Last year, the company provided transport for a total of 180 troop trains.

Other projects of the group are also included in the development of military infrastructure. LTG Infra is launching a project to modernize the intermodal terminal in Palemonas, which will increase cargo handling and storage capacity, including during the conversion from the European 1435 mm gauge to 1520 mm gauge for shipments to Latvia, Estonia, or the port of Klaipėda. This will also improve the efficiency of the deployment and support of the German brigade in Lithuania. Additionally, construction is underway on a new 1520 mm gauge railway line to the Rudninkai training ground from the Yashyunai-Stasilos junction, complete with infrastructure – from the roadbed and bridges to loading tracks with ramps for heavy equipment, cargo storage areas, and platforms for embarking and disembarking military personnel.
