The modernization of transport infrastructure will boost the development of tourism in Kazakhstan.

At a government meeting, measures to develop transport infrastructure in support of the tourism industry were reviewed. According to Minister of Transport Nurlan Sauranbayev, roadworks this year have covered 11,000 km of public roads, including access routes to the Rakhmanovskie Klyuchi, Kenderli, Bayanaul, Zerenda, and Kolsai tourist areas. The completion of the Almaty–Ust-Kamenogorsk highway has reduced travel time by 4–5 hours, thereby improving the region’s transport accessibility.

Plans are in place to complete the modernization of railway stations in Kokshetau, Borovoye, Konayev, Balkhash, and several other cities by July 1. Additionally, the procurement of 191 new railcars and the launch of 15 summer routes will create over 400,000 extra passenger seats, helping to meet rising demand during the tourist season.

In the aviation sector, construction of tourist-oriented airports is underway in Katon-Karagai, Zaysan, and Kenderli, alongside the restoration of the Arkalyk airport and the modernization of the terminal in Urdzhar. The Minister noted that domestic flights play a key role in regional connectivity; during the summer season, 45 subsidized flights operate weekly to destinations including Alakol, Balkhash, Turkistan, Burabay, and the Caspian Sea coast.
