The Port of Gothenburg has signed an agreement to purchase a large parcel of land adjacent to the port area. The deal, concluded with Platzer, includes not only the land but also office buildings and part of the water area. The purchase price was 684 million Swedish kronor, equivalent to approximately $72.4 million.
The new parcel is located adjacent to the site where Stena Line’s modern ferry terminal is currently under construction, scheduled to open in 2031. The purchase opens up opportunities for further development of terminal infrastructure on an area of approximately 210,000 square meters and creates the foundation for long-term expansion of port capacity.
The transaction is subject to approval by the municipal council, and ownership is expected to transfer no earlier than the fourth quarter of 2026. Following the completion of the transaction, the Port of Gothenburg plans to thoroughly develop the concept for the new parcel, taking into account its strategic development plans.
