Türkiye is preparing a tender for the design of a new logistics port in Mersin with a capacity of 5 million TEU.

Turkey plans to hold a tender in 2026 for the design of a new logistics port in Mersin with a capacity of up to 5 million TEU. According to documentation from the Turkish Ministry of Transport, the facility will be developed as a standalone infrastructure unit – separate from the city’s existing port complex – thereby creating a new logistics hub in the region.

The project is currently in the pre-investment phase. Authorities view the Mersin region as a single, integrated urban and economic corridor stretching from Ceyhan to Erdemli. Efforts to develop the area include attracting international investors and strengthening rail connections to organized industrial zones.

Materials from the Turkish Ministry of Transport indicate that current activities involve studies and the design of coastal infrastructure, including “design work for the Mersin logistics port project,” which is set to become a key element of the region’s future transport and logistics system.
